I am currently an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow in Biology at Indiana University in Matthew Hahn’s lab. My research focuses on developing methods for analyzing genomic data in an evolutionary context, and applies these methods to the study of terrestrial mollusks. Effectively using genomic data in non-model systems requires extensive field, lab, and computational work. I collect data from these systems via field surveys, followed by the adaptation of wet lab protocols that have often been developed for model systems. Many existing analysis methods do not account for the unusual biology of these systems or are not designed to answer the proposed questions. Thus, my research also involves the evaluation of existing methods and the development of novel methods (including machine learning methods) for analyzing genomic data to answer questions about species diversification.
